Jane Mao is a first-year MEd student at the Faculty of Education, with a BScH in Psychology and a Sexual and Gender Diversity Certificate. Jane’s presentation ‘Hurt by Healthcare’ has made it into the final for the Three Minute Thesis competition held each year.

Jane co-founded the Gender Affirming Assistance Project (GAAP) which is a grassroots and community-based group that seeks to support Two-Spirit, trans, non-binary, and gender diverse community members in the Kingston area. Throughout their work in GAAP and their academic research, they have consistently seen inequities within healthcare, so their Master's thesis focuses on how to close some of those gaps using education and skill-sharing as tools of empowerment.

The Three Minute Thesis final will be held in Mitchell Hall, Event Commons starting at 4:30 pm on Thursday, March 24. People will also have the chance to vote for the People’s Choice thesis. Presentations will be filmed and uploaded for voting after the final.
