Job Requirements

The primary purpose for teaching assistantships is to provide support for the Bachelor of Education courses in the Faculty of Education. Duties may include: attending class; general duties to assist the professor, assisting with classroom instruction; assisting with the preparation of class materials, marking, meeting with and/or responding to (email) student queries, and other duties as assigned. Many instructors will require you to be available to review the course and participate in the planning process prior to the commencement of the course.  Candidates must be prepared to work outside of the regular 9-5 work week, and previous teaching experience would be considered an asset.  TA hours are limited to a maximum of 10 hours per week on average.  Applicants must be current graduate students at Queen’s University.

Teaching Assistants are expected to be in person unless otherwise specified.

Application Process

The process of assigning qualified graduate students to these positions is outlined in the Collective Agreement between the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and Queen’s University. Applications will be reviewed and positions allocated in reference to candidates’ teaching and academic experience as it applies to the course subject field and in reference to the candidates’ priority for a Teaching Assistantship as specified by the Collective Agreement.

If you wish to be considered for a teaching assistantship listed above, please send one attachment including both your cover letter identifying the position(s) you are applying for and your qualifications, along with your resume outlining your relevant experience to educgrad@queensu.ca

Application Deadline

The closing date for submission of applications and supporting documentation is Monday, June 17, 2024.  Late applications will not be accepted. Only those applicants who will be offered a teaching assistantship will be contacted.
