Dr. Lee Airton


Jacob is committed to educational programming on consent, sexual health support, and wellbeing. His current research examines sexuality and health education in communities of faith. He is presently working with Dr. Airton on their SSHRC-funded research program with Dr. Kyle Kirkup (University of Ottawa), titled “Gender expression" under construction: How school boards are shaping Ontario's newest human rights category.” Jacob is also a graduate student representative on EREB, the Faculty of Education Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion committee, and the Queen's University Sexual Violence, Prevention and Response Task Force. 

Research Interests

  • Secularisms, sexuality, and religion in K-12 and teacher education. 
  • Gender and sexual diversity in K-12 and teacher education.
  • Equity, diversity, and inclusion policies and practices from k-12 to higher education.
  • Qualitative research methodology and research ethics. 
  • Queer theory and curriculum theory.
