The Studio Arts Workshop Support (SAWS) Award

The Studio Arts Workshop Support (SAWS) initiative was established in May 2015 by the Studio Committee at Queen's University Faculty of Education. SAWS is currently overseen by the Arts Infusion Committee.

Teacher candidates and graduate students at Queen's Faculty of Education are invited to apply for this support to offset the cost of registering in an arts workshop. Applications may be submitted to Dr. Benjamin Bolden at ben.bolden@queensu.ca. Please note that we are only able to support a limited number of applications each year. Successful applications will be notified within 10 days of the application deadline.

Successful applications will be reimbursed after the workshop, upon submission of a receipt.

Support Criteria

  • The student must attend the workshop while they are registered students at the Faculty of Education.
  • Any student may receive this support only once.
  • Maximum support will be $50 per student. Applications can be made for any amount up to this figure.
  • Applications made for support must be limited to one page and include the following:
    • Applicant name and contact information, including postal address
    • Workshop description including workshop title, name(s) of presenter, fee, location and date
    • Brief (200-300 words) rationale describing how the workshop will enhance your personal development.
  • A brief (200-300 words) description of your involvement in the workshop must be submitted upon its completion along with a receipt for reimbursement of registration fee (scan and submit to ben.bolden@queensu.ca).
