12:30-2:30 PM
Venue: Education Library, Duncan McArthur Hall, 511 Union Street West
You are warmly invited to bring a poem, a song, or a photo as we collectively think through the creative and critical aspects of paid and unpaid work in a climate-changing world. As a person working and/or schooling in these difficult times of labour exploitation, resource extraction, and environmental racism, it is crucial to engage in the discourse that unpacks how our health, work/studies, and neighbourhoods are impacted by climate crisis.
Join Paul Akpomuje (poet, critical migration scholar, and doctoral student) and Adesoji Babalola (hip-hop linguist, black cultural scholar, and doctoral candidate), Queen’s University, to illuminate a poetic understanding of climate and work. Please come with crafted poetry, if you have any, or with an open mind to engage in the conversation. We will share how to submit poems brought to or crafted during the workshop to a forthcoming anthology about work and climate change.
Jollof rice, coleslaw, chicken, plantain, vegan food, and drinks will be served.
The event is open to all and sundry.
