There are a few options for hiring students at Queen's.
- Work Study Program - The Work Study Program pays 75% of the employee's hourly wage with the employer paying 25% plus all employer-paid premiums. Students receive a certain amount of hours per term.
- Summer Work Experience Program (SWEP) - proposals are usually due around the end of October. This program allows you to hire students up to fulltime for 16 weeks of the summer. As part of the application, you can specify what percentage you need covered by the program - up to 75%.
- Queen's Undergraduate Internship Program (QUIP) - This is a program where undergraduate students can work fulltime for 12-16 months. These positions are fully funded by your department.
- Casual Roles - you can hire students is casual roles but student roles are meant to add additional capacity to a department by creating positions that are best suited for students; new student roles should not replace staff roles.
- Graduate Research Assistants - ask the grad office about this option.
