The Faculty of Education has two funds that students, staff, and faculty can apply to use for projects and events.
Applications for the Community Initiatives and Teaching Excellence Fund can be submitted by September 30, December 15, and April 30. The application form and budget template must be completed in full, and applicants should allow 4 weeks for review and a decision by the committee. Please note that funds are limited.
Applications and reports should be submitted to educdeans@queensu.ca.
Both funds are managed at the discretion of the Dean, and a committee consisting of representatives from finance, advancement, and the Office of the Dean. These funds are supported by donations from our community. Detailed reports from successful applicants will support the continued development of these funds.
Applicants must complete a report detailing how the funds were used within 3 months of using the funds to educdeans@queensu.ca.
The Community Initiatives Fund provides opportunities for the Faculty of Education to engage with our community. This can involve bringing local students to our Faculty for events (such as the Youth Forum); sharing our student and alumni expertise globally through our podcast, Popular Podagogy; and supporting resource development, such as the Anti-Racism Resource for Educators and My Kitchen Science Show.
The Teaching Excellence Fund supports programs and events for teacher candidates. This fund brings lectures and workshops to the Faculty, supports annual student initiatives such as the Queen's Conference on Education (organized by Concurrent Education Students Association), and supports events and training opportunities such as TRIBES and equity and social justice workshops for teacher candidates.
