A piece of art featuring abstract flowersEducational background

I studied Sociology as a major for my undergrad at York University. Initially, I started at Queen's and transferred later for a personal change in life. After much soul searching, I'm now back on a new journey in the GDE.

Current occupation

I currently work as a casual early childhood assistant in daycares. My previous role as an ESL teacher in South Korea has transitioned to working with children in the field of early learning. I mainly help out the teachers in leading class, preparing curriculum, and tending to children's needs.

Advice for new students

My advice for new students is to trust the guidance of your supporters including the graduate coordinators, as they have come to understand your capabilities. I would encourage you to be able to align your views with your instructors, peers and families - and above all, have trust in your progress in the program and in life.

How do you fit this program into your life?

The part-time curriculum of the GDE can more easily be adapted to my casual work schedule. The online and asynchronous aspect leads me to value the pockets of time and space during work days. I set aside time for accessing course materials, working on assignments, or participating in discussions everyday. It is useful to allow some spontaneity and gradual deadlines, and I let myself make changes as needed to work at my own pace.
