Rosa Bruno-Jofré

History of Catholicism and Education, History of Education, History and Theory, Historiography, History of Women Religious, Educational Theory from a Historical Perspective, Digital History, Digital Humanities.

Rosa Bruno-Jofré, PhD, FRSC, is a professor at and former dean (2000–2010) of the Faculty of Education, cross-appointed to the Department of History, Faculty of Art and Sciences, Queen’s University, Canada. Her areas of expertise are the history of women religious, history of education, and educational theory from a historical perspective. She is now engaged in digital history projects. She is the founding coordinator of the Theory and History of Education International Research Group (THEIRG) and founding co-editor of Encounters in Theory and History of Education. 

Bruno-Jofré is the co-founding senior editor of Encounters in Theory and History of Education (formerly Encounters/Encuentros/Rencontres on Education). Encounters is the winner of the 2021 Scholarly and Research Communication and the Canadian Association of Learned Journals, Journal Innovation Award.

She has served as associate editor (former senior co-editor) of Historical Studies in Education/Revue d’histoire de l’éducation and was the (founding) editor of the Queen’s Education Letter until 2018.

She is the founding editor of the Open Monograph Series on Theory and History of Education, hosted by the Queen’s Library.

The series is produced by the Theory and History of Education International Group, is attached to Encounters in Theory and History of Education, and has its own board and an international advisory council.

Bruno-Jofré is Associate Editor in the editorial board of Irish Educational Studies, the Journal of the Educational Studies Association of Ireland.
