Every educator’s professional learning journey is different. Your interests, career goals, students, and educational context are uniquely yours. The new Open Studies Certificate from Queen’s Continuing Teacher Education gives you the flexibility to create a certificate that reflects what matters most to you.

Choose any five courses offered through Continuing Teacher Education and build a personalized pathway that supports your growth as an educator and expands your professional expertise.

“Education is constantly evolving, and so are the needs of educators and their students. The Open Studies Certificate gives educators the freedom to shape their professional learning around what matters most to them, their careers, and their students.” – Dr. Amy Burns, Dean, Faculty of Education

Explore current research, evidence-informed practices and practical strategies you can put to work in your classroom, school or educational setting. Guided by experienced educators, you’ll build a meaningful body of professional learning that reflects your interests and evolves with your career.

“The Open Studies Certificate puts educators in the driver’s seat. They can choose the professional learning that best fits their goals and if those goals change over time, they are able to still come out with a certificate at the end.”- Brandon Ruck, Director, Professional and Global Programs

Completion of the Open Studies Certificate provides advanced standing in the Professional Master of Education (PME) program. The five courses you complete as part of your certificate can be applied toward the Professional Master of Education, allowing you to build on learning you’ve already completed while reducing the number of courses required to finish the degree.
