You’ll learn how to influence policy, support colleagues, mobilize networks, and create conditions where every learner thrives, while developing a professional digital portfolio and a clear, grounded vision of yourself as a teacher leader. Learning Outcomes

What You Will Learn and Do

In this course, you’ll have the opportunity to

  • develop a philosophy of what teacher leadership means in Ontario contexts
  • apply teacher leadership to your own classroom and school
  • evaluate areas of teacher leadership to include diverse perspectives and applications
  • develop multiple entry points into leadership that promote the voices and identities of the community to inform the desired outcome
  • apply processes and program planning that provide equitable opportunities for each learner
  • critically analyze frameworks that support leaders (e.g. Ontario Leadership Framework)
  • evaluate individual and systemic biases, discrimination, and barriers as well as manifestations of power and privilege in teacher practice and educational leadership in order to support the school community
  • develop recognition and application of the multi-faceted roles in leadership
  • assess culturally inclusive processes and practices to provide learning opportunities that respect the learning preferences, voices, and perspectives of each learner
  • develop leadership practices grounded in inclusion and equity to understand and respond to the experiences of each learner
