In this course you’ll have the opportunity to

  • consider the complexity and scope of the teacher librarian’s role in British Columbia and elsewhere
  • appreciate the necessity of teacher librarians being able to respond to the changing needs of students and school communities
  • consider the impact of the LLC model on student learning
  • access key resources that guide your role as a teacher librarian in Canada to develop practical resources for future use
  • articulate your teacher librarian mission statement and LLC vision statement to guide and focus your work to maximize your effectiveness in the position
  • learn ways to advocate for the teacher librarian’s role and create an advocacy-based plan
  • communicate with key partners, especially school administrators
  • demonstrate the competencies required to be a lifelong learner as they relate to the role of the teacher librarian
