CONT906: Inclusive Education Specialist
How can schools truly become inclusive communities where every learner thrives? What does it mean to lead with empathy, equity and collaboration? How can you empower staff, students and families to break down barriers to learning and belonging?
In this course, you will explore the foundations of inclusive education and the essential leadership practices that drive lasting change. You will learn to design supports that meet diverse student needs, apply assistive technology (AT) effectively, and lead teams that foster inclusion across classrooms and school systems.
Through reflection, collaboration and hands-on practice, you will develop the skills to create inclusive learning environments where all students are valued. By the end of the course, you will curate a professional portfolio and inclusive education toolkit to guide your ongoing growth as a leader—one who transforms policy into practice and ensures every learner has a place to belong, participate and succeed.

- identify and apply foundational leadership skills relevant to inclusive education
- apply collaborative strategies in realistic scenarios, demonstrating flexibility, problem solving and an understanding of diverse roles in inclusive education settings
- analyze how school systems, school culture and personal awareness can impact building inclusive school environments
- create a comprehensive behaviour intervention plan (BIP) that is student centred, strength based and trauma informed
- develop sustainable action plans and lesson plans for implementing AT in classroom settings
- explore professional learning resources and practice delivering meaningful professional development for inclusive education
- design a professional growth plan that connects your inclusive education goals, strategies and insights from the course
