The Centre for Community Engagement and Social Change's Community Engaged Capacity Building Grants aim to provide three awards of $5,000 to community organizations seeking to strengthen their research capacity. Funds may support activities such as staff or volunteer training in research skills, evaluation and assessment projects, knowledge mobilization initiatives, development of data systems or tools, community‑led inquiry, or other approaches that enhance an organization’s ability to generate, understand, and apply research. This program aims to empower community organizations to build sustainable knowledge infrastructure that advances their missions and supports informed, community‑driven decision making. 

Eligible applicants include non-profit organizations and grassroots groups that are based in or actively delivering work within the Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington (KFL&A) region. Applicants may apply individually or as part of a collaborative group. For collaborative applications, one organization must be designated as the lead applicant, and that organization will receive and administer the funding.

About Centre for Community Engagement and Social Change: The CCESC, launched in 2024, brings together dedicated researchers and community partners to support positive transformation in teaching, research, and everyday lives.   Our mission is to apply the principles and practices of participatory and transformative community engaged research in formal and informal educational contexts, in partnership with community organizations at local, national, and international levels. Through these partnerships we develop research approaches, policies and practices that support community flourishing. We build innovative research-driven, collaborative solutions, training, and resources for the most pressing challenges in education. Education is broadly conceived to include both formal schooling and informal community settings.
