Biography

Before beginning his PhD at Queen’s University, Farid spent more than two decades learning about education from inside classrooms. His work has taken him across K–12, adult, and international education as a language teacher, teacher educator, curriculum designer, and assessment practitioner. He now brings this practitioner perspective to his doctoral work and his role as a Graduate Teaching Fellow in the Faculty of Education. Across both, he asks a question shaped by years in classrooms: when does assessment open possibilities for learning—and when does it quietly close them?
