Advice for New Students:
If you are working full-time, I recommend setting aside a few evenings each week or dedicating a full day on the weekend to your coursework. I found it helpful to complete the first two modules ahead of schedule, which gave me some flexibility when work or personal commitments became particularly demanding. By staying ahead whenever possible, I was able to manage unexpected challenges while remaining on track with my studies and avoiding unnecessary stress.
Why did you choose this program?
I wanted to reach category 6 and increase my pay. It opens doors to leadership positions.
What was one moment of the program so far that stands out to you?
I believe I have gained the most from the PME because I intentionally connected every course to my professional context as an ELL educator. Whenever I was required to conduct independent research, I focused on topics related to English Language Learners. My Capstone project, for example, centers on culturally responsive teaching with ELL students in mind. By consistently linking my learning to my professional practice, I have been able to deepen my understanding and immediately apply new knowledge in meaningful ways.
How do you fit this program into your life? How do you structure your days to fit it in?
I typically dedicate one day each weekend to my coursework. I start early in the morning, complete the required readings, take notes, and work through the module content. I also submit assignments and regularly check discussion forums throughout the week. This approach helps me stay organized and engaged with the course while avoiding the stress of trying to complete coursework after a long workday.
