How does this course support learners outside K-12 teaching contexts?

Educational fieldwork principles and practices can be generalized and transferred to professional contexts outside K-12 education (e.g., higher education, medicine, business, government). The learning activities and assignments in this course are applicable across professional contexts, and students have opportunities to incorporate readings and resources that are relevant to their professional interests and contexts.

Each student’s professional practice and goals are unique. We highly encourage students to reach out to their course instructors at the start of the term to discuss the relevance and application of course learning and assignments to their own learning goals and context of practice.

PLEASE NOTE: PME 894 students do not conduct research with human subjects.

  • PME 894 does not provide University ethical clearance to conduct research with human subjects. Course activities and assignments will provide opportunities to explore and apply foundational knowledge about educational fieldwork, culminating in a proposal for future study.
