How does this course support learners outside K-12 teaching contexts?
The first three modules of this course focus on big ideas relating to teaching and learning (i.e., conceptions of curriculum, curriculum philosophy, curriculum design, and assessment). The second half of this course focuses on connecting the learning from the opening modules to your professional practice. Specifically, students will reflect on their vision for teaching and learning and how that integrates and aligns with institutional expectations. In addition, students are given the opportunity to use an instructional alignment framework to create new and visionary learning opportunities for their learners.
Each student’s professional practice and goals are unique. We highly encourage students to reach out to their course instructors at the start of the term to discuss the relevance and application of course learning and assignments to their own learning goals and context of practice.
