A recent announcement has been made by the Ministry of Education about upcoming changes to teacher education in Ontario. Many programs will be changing from 4 terms to a 3 term structure.
Consecutive Education Program
Including: Consecutive Education, Artist in Community Education, Indigenous Teacher Education, Outdoor and Experiential Education, Primary-Junior French as a Second Language, and Technological Education
Starting in May 2027, these programs will be shortened to 12 months. Prospective students applying in Fall 2026 will be applying to this shortened program.
Multi-Session Programs
Including: Indigenous Teacher Education (Community-Based), Primary Junior French as Second Language Multi-Session, and Technological Education Multi-Session
These programs will remain a 6-term program (2 years) for one additional year. Prospective Multi-Session program students applying in the Fall of 2026 will be applying to the 24-month program (no change).
Concurrent Education
Including: Concurrent Education
Our Concurrent Education program will be shortened to 5 years (it was 5 year + 1 summer). Prospective students applying in Fall 2026 will be applying to this shortened program.
