Maximizing Early Math Learning Conference

Developing young children’s early math skills is extremely important for their future school and life success. However, professionals and parents alike often lack the knowledge and skills they need to maximize early math learning. The Math Knowledge Network (MKN), the Queen’s Faculty of Education, and the Association of Early Childhood Educators Ontario (AECEO) are pleased to help sponsor the Maximizing Early Math Learning Conference, a one-day professional development (PD) event for early childhood educators, teachers, administrators, and parents, hosted at Queen's University (Kingston, ON) on August 12th, 2019.

PD opportunities will include:

  • A video-conference keynote by Drs. Doug Clements and Julie Sarama about how early math learning trajectories can help us gain a deeper understanding of the Kindergarten curriculum and how to teach it.
  • A hands-on workshop of practical classroom-tested activities for developing early geometry and spatial reasoning skills in Kindergarten students.
  • The opportunity to explore resources that support and maximize early math learning.
  • A tour of the Building Parent Engagement in Math (BPEiM) project website.

The subsidized cost of the Maximizing Early Math Learning
Conference is $50 (which includes a light breakfast and lunch).
