About our Candidates

Candidate Pool

Our Candidate Database includes candidates who will be on-site at TORF, and those who will be on-line candidates only.

The candidates attending TORF will be clearly indicated in the database. Of course, should you find a candidate whom you would like to interview, who has indicated that they will not be on site the weekend of TORF, you may strongly suggest to them to attend!

Experienced (~150-200)

  • The majority of the teachers at TORF will be experienced and will have Ontario or other Canadian teacher certification.
  • The academic and professional training of Canadian teachers is acceptable for certification in the USA.

Newly Graduating Teachers (~90)

  • Most of the teachers in this category will be graduating B.Ed. candidates from Queen's, with the remaining primarily from other Ontario universities.
  • Queen's is very selective regarding admission. Related experience is given equal weight to academics in the selection process for the B.Ed. program and, as a result, the graduates are older and more experienced than one might expect.
Information about Database Access

Fully registered schools will have access to our candidate profiles and documents starting on November 14, 2016, or any time thereafter once fees are paid. Please log in to your TORF account and select "Candidate Database".

Hard copies of candidates’ files will be available in the Delta Hotels Kingston Waterfront, as of Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at 1:00 pm.

Recruiting Guidelines and Employment Equity

Employment Equity and Human Rights Code

Queen's University has a responsibility for ensuring that Canadian Federal and Provincial employment equity guidelines are honoured at this event. We ask that school representatives consider both excellence and diversity when assessing the suitability of candidates. Selection criteria must be clear, flexible and relate to a candidate's ability to meet the requirements of the position. At Queen's, we can better serve the needs of both candidates and schools if we are informed of any unique host country employment policies and regulations that may influence the interview, selection and hiring processes.

All school administrators attending TORF will be expected to adhere to the Ontario Human Rights Code. During the registration process and upon arrival at TORF, you will be asked to indicate that you have read the document we provide and agree to this Code. Please review the document below prior to registering with TORF.

Guidelines

The Council of International Schools, International Schools Services, Queen's University, Search Associates and the University of Northern Iowa take stewardship of the recruiting process seriously and, in response to the growing challenges, have agreed to implement the following guidelines at recruitment conferences.

Please review these guidelines. During the registration process, each school will be required to indicate that they have read and agree to abide by these guidelines.
