The Queen’s-Waterloo Joint Program is designed for students enrolled in the Bachelor of Mathematics (Honours Mathematics Co-op) or Bachelor of Computer Science (Honours Computing Science Co-op) at the University of Waterloo. Students may apply to the Joint Program in their second year. By the end of five years, candidates will have two degrees, one in Mathematics or Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and one in Education from Queen’s. The program prepares graduates to teach mathematics and a second subject (normally in Computer Studies, Science-Biology, Science-Chemistry, or Science- Physics) in Ontario secondary schools.
Accepted candidates attend Queen's Faculty of Education from September to the end of April, following their third year at the University of Waterloo. Within the eight-month Bachelor of Education program at Queen's, teacher candidates participate in up to thirteen weeks of in-school teaching practicum as well as a three week alternative practicum.
