Artist in Community Education Program Track (ACE)

How to Apply

We invite you to visit the Artist in Community Education site, where you will find information about the history of this unique program track, photos, testimonials, etc.

Selection of candidates is based on Supplementary Documents that help to demonstrate the applicant’s sense of artistic and educational background and aspirations.

At the discretion of the ACE selection committee, some candidates may be contacted in January and asked to attend an interview in February.

ACE Intermediate-Senior applicants must select one of their teaching subjects from these four areas:

  • Dramatic Arts
  • Music
  • English
  • Visual Arts

Please send the Application Cover Sheet, Current Arts Resume, Letter of Introduction and your Artistic Portfolio to:

1. Application Cover Sheet  

Please include an Application Cover Sheet with your Queen's student number and your name. 

2. Current Arts Résumé    

Your Arts Résumé should focus on your education, experiences and interests in the arts (i.e. in visual arts, music, drama, or creative writing).

3. One-page Letter of Introduction

Your letter should provide a brief overview of your artistic activities as they relate to your strong commitment to education and your commitment to artistic practice in one or more of the arts, with particular emphasis on work completed outside artistic requirements of your program of study.

4. Artistic Portfolio

The artistic portfolio allows the ACE review team to consider each candidate’s professional arts activity. There is no specified format for the portfolio. The background and expertise of individual candidates are unique, and applicants are encouraged to include material that demonstrates, illustrates and/or documents the details of their artistic and arts-related practice. Your portfolio might include any of: performance recordings, both musical and theatrical, fine art examples of paintings, prints, sculptures, etc., program brochures, recital or show announcements, education, curriculum or arts management materials and projects you have worked on, or any other materials that will help us to acquire a sense of your arts activity.


Note: You should not send valuable originals in your portfolio. Photographic, audio, video, or digitally copied examples of your art are suggested for your submission.  Portfolios cannot be submitted by email
