Education Career Services

In addition to central Career Services, Queen's has an office dedicated specifically for careers in education. Education Career Services has been offering personalized assistance and resources to teacher candidates and graduates since 1979, and it has developed considerable expertise, resources and contacts in the field of education careers. Education Career Services has the ability and resources to assist B.Ed. graduates with their job search and career aspirations across the full range of opportunities open to them as educators.

COMING UP! "Related Careers for Teachers "       Wednesday, February 6, 2013 1:30-3:30 pm Auditorium    How can your skills as an educator be applied in related settings?

 

Services include:

• Information sessions on the domestic job market and on international opportunities  
• Workshops on résumé preparation, cover letter writing, and interviews for teaching positions 
• Individual consultation and advice on cover letters, résumés, application documents, career options, job search techniques and on alternatives to teaching in the classroom
• Comprehensive website with domestic and international links 
• Application Procedures website, designed to clarify the variety of procedures used by district school boards in Ontario, boards in other provinces, and by private schools across Canada
• Job Postings website, with teaching, teaching-related, summer and international vacancies
• Teachers' Overseas Recruiting Fair (TORF) and the International Teacher Placement Service (ITPS) -for Queen's teacher candidates and alumni, and other certified teachers interested in international school placements
• Related Careers website, a collection of resources for those interested in using their  teaching skills in other settings.
• OPTIONS - an annual career fair for Queen's teacher candidates attended by Ontario district school boards and other domestic and international organizations
• Additional on-campus recruitment by a range of organizations
