Seeking Accommodation

This service is provided as a convenience for Faculty of Education students and is intended for short-term accommodation postings suitable for on-campus weeks at Queen's. Please note that some landlords are also willing to rent room(s) during the practicum teaching placements if the placements are in Kingston.

List a Property

If you list your property it will be available on our website for public access.

Education students who complete their practice teaching outside of the Kingston area will need short-term accommodation in Kingston at various points in the year while they are attending Education classes. We invite your participation in accommodating these students on a relatively short-term basis (weekly and/or monthly over a span of eight months). If you would like to rent your room on a long-term basis (continuously or for more than eight months), please contact the Queen's Accommodation Listing Service.

Would you consider opening your home to one or more of our students for any of the following periods of time?

Fall Term Residency (On-Campus Sessions)

All students will be on campus from 4 September to 5 October 2012, and again from 29 October to 30 November 2012.

Winter Term Residency (On-Campus Sessions)

All students will be on campus from 7 January to 8 February 2013, and again from 1 to 26 April 2013.

Fall-Winter Term Practicum Teaching Placements
Depending on practicum teaching placements, students may also request extended residency for one or more of the practicum teaching blocks if they are in Kingston: 9 October to 26 October 2012, 3 December to 21 December 2012, 11 February to 8 March 2013, and 11 March to 28 March 2013.

Summer Session

In addition, the following students will need accommodation:

• Continuing Teacher Education: 30 April to 25 May 2012
• Continuing Teacher Education and Technological Education Internship Program: 3 July - 20 July 2012
• Aboriginal Teacher Education Program: 13 August - 24 August 2012

Conditions for providing housing will vary from one situation to another. You may wish to offer a bed and breakfast arrangement, room with full board, or room without meals. Last year, prices ranged from $100 to $225 per week or from $400 to $1000 per month.

We would be grateful for any assistance you can give in providing the participants of this program with a home away from home. All you need do is fill in the on-line registration form and click on the "Submit" button. Interested students will take the initiative to contact you directly.

Please note that on 12 April 2013, all of the listings on the Education Housing Board will be removed and the board will be updated for the next academic year. If you would like to post your room(s) for the 2013-14 academic year, list your property on or after 13 April 2013.
