A number of different funding opportunities are available to faculty and graduate students to assist them with their research.
Faculty of Education funding is offered to both faculty members and graduate students. Staff members are also available to act as a liaison with the Office of Research Services (ORS) and to assist with applications for other University and external funding opportunities.
The ORS administers various Queen’s University initiatives as well as external funding opportunities. Its website provides useful information on funding sources and submission of proposals. Faculty can sign up for the ORS Funding Opportunities Distribution List and search its archives. All messages which are sent out on the Distribution List are summarized on the ORS calendar.
Queen's University is a member of the Community of Science (COS), an international research network that covers the humanities and the physical, social, and life sciences. The COS has an extensive database, and funding alerts link the expertise profile of the user to relevant news announcements which are then provided by email. The ORS gives workshops on the use of the database and funding alerts.
The staff of the Graduate Studies and Research Office will forward relevant messages from the ORS and COS lists to graduate students.
To assist staff in collecting research data, faculty members are asked to submit an e-copy of all applications for funding to Erin Wicklam for inclusion in the Faculty's research database.
