Along with the the Faculty of Arts and Science,  School of Graduate Studies, and Queen's University Library, the Faculty of Education, invites Faculty and graduate students to attend the following events:

Thursday, February 1

The Vast Unfinished Business of the Writing Block: a psychoanalytic contribution to to understanding writing anxieties and inhibitions in the University.

The lecture is being presented by Professor Deborah Britzman in Duncan McArthur Hall, room A237 at 4 pm.

This lecture discusses the writing block as opening a particular emotional configuration that gives way to fantasies of relationality as the writer feels called upon to be original, worries about plagiarism, write the the ideal paper, experience anxieties over the paper’s reception, and wish for a perfect meaning.

Psychoanalysis in the Classroom: History, Pedagogy, and Research

A fireside chat with visiting Professors Deborah Britzman and Laura Cameron, will take place Friday, February 2 at 11 am in the Allan G. Green Fireplace Reading Room in Stauffer Library.
