Biography

Lindsay Heggie is a PhD student in Dr. Lesly Wade-Woolley's Language and Literacy Research Lab (LLRLab). She holds Master's degrees in Linguistics (2002, University of Ottawa) and Education (2007, Queen's University). Over the past several years, she has focused on the study of prosodic awareness and reading, examining how prosodic awareness interacts with other factors such as reading ability, punctuation ability, musical training, and morphological awareness. Her dissertation focuses on Grade 4 and 5 students' multisyllabic word reading, prosodic awareness, and morphological awareness. Before beginning her doctorate, Lindsay worked as a Knowledge Officer at the Canadian Language and Literacy Research Network and as a Research Associate with the Social Program and Evaluation Group (SPEG) at Queen's.
