Biography

Michael’s doctoral research is an exploration of how secondary history teachers approach teaching about the perpetrators of the Holocaust. He has earned degrees from Queen’s University (BAH and BEd) and the University of New Brunswick (MA). As an undergraduate, he also had the extraordinary opportunity to attend the Bader International Study Centre at Herstmonceux Castle in southern England. Before returning to Queen’s, he worked as a researcher at the New Brunswick Museum, a curriculum development specialist for the charity Free The Children, and a sessional instructor at the University of Waterloo where he taught undergraduate history courses. He is a Fellow of the Holocaust Educational Foundation of Northwestern University in Evanston, IL and is a member of the Perpetrators Studies Network and the Canadian Society for the Study of Education. In addition to his doctoral studies, Michael teaches history at Leahurst College in Kingston.
