Mr. Travers helped thousands of teacher candidates and professionals by providing career and job search advice, and by writing What’s Next? A Job Search Guide for Teachers.

In the Queen's News Centre story, Mr. Travers is quoted as saying:

It’s been a pleasure working all these years with the BEd candidates and helping them get their careers started... I've always valued the chances I got early in my career and have never taken for granted the importance of having a job.

Mr. Travers also explained why he began building relationships with overseas schools in the 1980s, which led to the establishment of the annual Teachers Overseas Recruiting Fair, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this January:

I have always believed if teachers teach abroad and have that experience, they’ll come back to Canada and be stronger teachers as a result.

Ms. Elspeth Morgan, the new Coordinator of Education Career Services, worked closely with Mr. Travers as a Career and Recruitment Advisor for the past 14 years.

I have been so lucky to work with and learn from Alan, who is regarded as an authority on the job search in the Canadian context, and is recognized around the world as an expert on international schools and employment. His mentorship, insights and hard work have set up Education Career Services for continuing success.

Thanks to Mr. Travers for his years of service as the Coordinator of Education Career Services and
for continuing to support teacher candidates part-time as a career consultant at the Faculty of Education.
