The winner of the first Faculty of Education Photo of the Month Contest was Jeff Woodrow, current teacher candidate in the Technological Education Program. The runners up were Paul Vernon, current teacher candidate in the Artist in the Community Program and Megan Bond, current student in the Master of Education Program.
There is a new entrance award for the Consecutive Education Bachelor of Education program. Awarded on the basis of academic excellence, the J. Bolton and Kathleen Slack Scholarship is valued at approximately $2500.

Catherine Donnelly has received one of the top CIHR Interdisciplinary Research Fellowships to support her PhD dissertation. Nancy Dalgarno (PhD Ed '09) , Educational Researcher at the Faculty of Education Community Outreach Centre, Loretta Walz (MEd '08), and Lindsay Davidson of Queen's UGME, won the International Award for Excellence in the area of learning and education from Ubiquitous Learning.
The American Alliance for Theatre and Education awarded the Campton Bell Lifetime Achievement Award (honouring an individual for a lifetime of outstanding contributions to the field of theatre education) to Professor Larry O’Farrell.

Recent graduate Dr. Christopher DeLuca won the Canadian Association for Curriculum Studies (CACS) Outstanding Dissertation Award for excellence in curriculum studies at the doctoral level. His dissertation was entitled "Constructing a Framework for the Validation of Complex Program Aims".
Liying Cheng (Principal Investigator) (Queen’s), Hong Want (Mount Saint Vincent) and Lynette May (Queensland University of Technology) and Shahrzad Saif (Universté Laval) have been awarded a SSHRC Partnership Development Grant ($200,000, 2011-14) for their project entitled "Test Preparation: Does It Enhance Test Performance and English Language Proficiency."
The Tricolour Award and induction in the Tricolour Society is the highest tribute that can be paid to a student for valuable and distinguished service to the University in non-athletic, extra-curricular activities. Such service may have been confined to a single field, or it may have taken the form of a significant contribution over a wide range of activities.

At the Annual General Meeting of the Canadian Society for the Study of Education, Dr. Nancy Hutchinson was presented with the Carol Crealock Award for her outstanding contributions to education across Canada.
Heather Wilcox wins 2010 Dr. David Suzuki Fellowship. The fellowships are awarded to teacher candidates who are graduating from accredited Ontario Faculty of Education programs and have demonstrated commitment to the environmental education of elementary school children.
Sheryl (Geen) Parker (ConEd’86) won the Sir Mackenzie Bowell Award for Educator of the Year, given by the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board.
Emily Rankin (B.Ed. '10) awarded a $5,000 scholarship by United World College of South East Asia.
