Faculty of Education Events

The Faculty of Education hosts many community events throughout the year, some of which are described below. We also sponsor many local school board initiatives here at Duncan McArthur Hall. Please check back regularly to see what is up & coming!

  • ACE Exhibition Opening: The Artist in Community Education teacher candidates open their Studio to the public every Spring to showcase their work. A reception to celebrate the grand opening of the exhibition is hosted in the Studio, at Duncan McArthur Hall and everyone is welcome!

  • ACE Extravaganza: each spring our Artist in Community Education students present an art exhibition and/or a performance based piece to share their talents with the Faculty community. Art exhibits have included designed costumes, sound art, film, and poetry displayed visually as companions to the more traditional contributions of oil, acrylic, silkscreen and sculpture. Performance pieces have ranged from plays to reviews to coffee houses and mixed showcases.

  • Artist in Residence Workshops: Professional artists conduct workshops with teacher candidates, graduate students and members of the faculty community. Typically, the studio hosts 2 artists each year with a goal to rotate through visual art, dance, drama and music.

  • BEd Musical: the Faculty of Education BEd Musical is performed every year by a talented team of teacher candidates.

  • Duncan McArthur Lecture Series: established with a bequest from Helen Hardy in honour of her father, Duncan McArthur, to serve students and faculty members of the Faculty of Education and Queen's University, the larger education community and the community in general by bringing distinguished visitors of international stature to the Faculty of Education.
