Biography

Lindsay Heggie is a Ph.D. student in Dr. Lesly Wade-Woolley's Language and Literacy Research Lab(LLRLab). She holds Master's degrees in Linguistics (2002, University of Ottawa) and Education (2007, Queen's University). Over the past several years, she has worked in various capacities on the study of prosodic awareness and reading, specifically examining how prosody affects multisyllabic word reading, punctuation ability, and musical ability, as well as how it interacts with reading ability and morphological awareness. For her dissertation, she is focusing on the relationship between prosodic awareness and elementary school students' reading fluency and reading comprehension. Before beginning her doctorate, Lindsay worked as a Knowledge Officer at the Canadian Language and Literacy Research Networkand as a Research Associate with the Social Program and Evaluation Group(SPEG) at Queen's.
