Celebrate the work of young local artists in the Junior District Learning Disabilities Support Program! These grade 6 students participated in a ten week series of art workshops that focussed on the importance of self advocacy for “getting what you need to succeed”. Each student created five works exploring themes of self advocacy including, Analogy/ “What is it like to have your LD?”, Confidence, Exploring Risk, Fair Accommodations and Rights & Responsibilities. The workshops encouraged students to explore strategies for success in school and to acknowledge that they play an important role as agents in their own learning. Art and writing activities were designed to increase confidence and readiness to speak openly to their education partners about their learning strengths, needs and goals.

Join us as we fly our flags for success! This student exhibition features a variety of media including collage, painting, collaborative drawing, poetry and more!
