Facilities

  • Bookings for Computer Labs and Equipment can be made via an online Reservations form.  Reservations can only be made by Faculty and Staff.

What’s Available

Space

e-Learning Services maintains computers at several locations in Duncan McArthur Hall, with a wide variety of tool and curriculum-related software. Among these facilities are a number of self-help computing labs, with access to specialized equipment such as scanners, CD burners, digital cameras, and multi-media production equipment for faculty work as well as for class projects.

In addition to both fixed and portable computing labs located in the building (and listed below), e-Services manages a number of sets of laptop computers and display projectors which are available for booking for classroom use. Computer room and specialized equipment bookings may be made through the Reservations link at the bottom of the page.

Printing

Laser printing (both black and white, and colour) is available in the EDUC TUCK Shop (B137c), and in B120 via a venda card available from the Education Library.

Software

Educational software is installed on the local networks. Emphasis is placed on software tools that support collaboration and general-purpose tools such as text editors, spreadsheets, database management systems, painting and drawing programs (e.g. CAD), and telecommunications programs.

A variety of curriculum-related software, provided by the Ministry of Education to all publically funded schools and Faculties of Education in Ontario, is available for use in curriculum labs.

Specialized Computing Resources

Specialized equipment and software is available in several locations around the building. Of particular interest are the Adaptive Technology Room and the Communications Technology Lab.

  • Video recording and video conferencing are available in this room, along with individual computers with "push-to-talk" microphones. Please ask in room B242 for further information.

Teaching Classrooms

  • Most teaching classrooms are equipped with a data projector, laptop computer, and CD/DVD player. A select number of classrooms also have Smart Boards installed.

Other computing labs are spread throughout the building and are the responsibility of the curriculum area e.g., art, science, mathematics. These labs contain equipment and software related to the curriculum area. Check with the respective area instructors for further information about what is available.
