The Faculty of Education is committed to providing all possible assistance to its graduates in their efforts to find employment, as demonstrated by the existence of Education Career Services within the Faculty of Education for the use of Queen's University Education students and graduates. The benefits of this assistance are reflected in the proportion of Queen's graduates able to secure teaching and related positions and in the variety of placements reported.
Education Career Services operates year-round to facilitate contacts both domestically and overseas between hiring officials and graduates. Staff are available to respond to teacher candidates' questions and concerns of all kinds. This may include advice on hiring procedures, helping with preparation of applications and resumes, and assisting with practice interviews. Advice is based upon up-to-date placement statistics and an informed view of educational trends; the aim is to ensure that our graduates have the information and skills necessary for an effective job search.
Most graduates are interested in employment in Southern Ontario; however, some graduates prefer to teach in the north or in other provinces or overseas. Thus, Education Career Services has developed considerable expertise with respect to teaching internationally.
In addition to serving Queen's teacher candidates and graduates, we are able to assist other teachers with North American certification (or equivalent) who wish to teach overseas. Please refer to:
