Welcome to Queen's University - Seven Generations Education Institute Aboriginal Teacher Education Program! Congratulations on your acceptance into this program, and on taking the first steps along your path to becoming a certified teacher.

This is a two-year program with most courses taught by qualified Aboriginal instructors from various areas of the province. While most of the courses will be offered on site at Seven Generations Education Institute in Fort Frances, you will also be attending a two-week summer session held in the summer of 2014 at the Faculty of Education, Queen's University in Kingston Ontario.

Orientation Day Agenda

The new 2012-13 Teacher Candidates Seven Generations Education Institute ATEP Orientation is scheduled for Friday, September 21, 2012 at 1:00 pm at the Seven Generations Education Institute (map below). Orientation information has been sent to you now at your Queen's email address. Please check this site frequently for orientation updates.

Course Timetable

The SGEI ATEP Fall and Winter 2012-2013 Course Timetable is available at http://www.educ.queensu.ca/atep/community/seven-generations.html. Please scroll down to the bottom of that page to find the timetable and other important documents.

Tuition and Course Registration

General tuition, funding and course registration information can be accessed by going to the University Registrar's Office at queensu.ca/registrar/currentstudents/fees.html. All registration and tuition inquires should be directed to the Faculty of Education Registrar's Office via email at education.registrar@queensu.ca or you can call our toll free number and we will transfer you to their office.

Required Course Resources

The list and cost of required textbooks and course packs will be provide to you by SGEI.

SOLUS (Student On-Line University System)

(You must have a valid Queen's University email and NetID to access your SOLUS account)

You can access your own student information page regarding courses, marks and fees that are outstanding by going to the SOLUS webpage.

Important Documentation

It is very important that you complete and bring with you to orientation all documents that were included in the package that we mailed to you. If you have not received this package or require replacement documentation sent to you, please contact us as soon as possible.

Please bring the following completed forms with you to orientation:

  • Completed CPIC and Vulnerable Sector Screening Form
  • TB Test Form
  • ATEP Personal Information Sheet

*Important*

If you do not have the TB Test Form, CPIC and Vulnerable Sector Screening Form documentation completed, you will not be allowed to do your practicum placements until these forms are properly completed and on file in our office.
