A Story Told to me a While Back

I think about the message when I feel as if what I do makes no impact, no difference...
An old man was watching a young boy flinging starfish back into the sea. An exceptionally high tide had strewn millions of them over the beach and a merciless sun was drying them out and killing them. The more the old man watched the more agitated he got. It seemed like such a futile effort.
Finally he walked straight up to the boy and asked "Why are you throwing these starfish back into the sea. Can't you see there are millions of them? What possible difference can your efforts make?"
"Makes a difference to this one" replied the young boy and he flung another starfish far out to sea.
