Queen's faculty, staff and students have access to a variety of electronic journals that may be of interest to those with special needs. Many journals have full-text articles available online. They also may contain articles of interest that reflect current research strategies.

    Faculty Adaptive Technology Computer
    e-Learning Hub

    The adaptive technology computer, located in the e-Learning Hub, was obtained through a grant from the Queen's Technology Sponsorship Fund.

    The workstation consists of an IBM computer with a flat screen monitor and an HP scanner. It has a variety of software installed on it.

    A number of hardware devices are also available that work in conjunction with, or in addition to, this computer.

    Student Adaptive Technology Room 


    This quiet room, especially designed for student use, has specialized equipment to support a variety of learning preferences. There is a special table with electronic height adjustment, an ergonomic chair, a fully adjustable keyboard tray, a 21" monitor on a movable arm that is adaptable in both height and distance, and special software such as Dragon Naturally Speaking, Kurzweil 3000 and JAWS. In addition, software that has been licensed by the Ontario Ministry of Education may also be installed on this computer on request.
