At the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Canadian Society for the Study of Education (CSSE) on Saturday, May 29, 2010, Dr. Benjamin Kutsyuruba was presented with the New Scholar Fellowship Award. His paper, "Teacher Collaboration in Times of Uncertainty and Radical Societal Change: Post-Soviet Context" was judged by a jury of peers to be the best presentation given by a new scholar (single-authored) at the 2009 CSSE Annual Conference.
CSSE was established to gain recognition for Education and research support for individuals working in the field. The Society provides opportunities to engage in research, present and publish findings, discuss ideas and questions, and build links with colleagues through its publications, its conferences, its committees and lobbying, its links with other organizations, and its charitable trust.
To recognize and support the work of new colleagues, the Society has created the CSSE New Scholar Fund, a programme of awards for new scholars (full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professors in Education in an academic unit in Canada). CSSE New Scholar Advisory Board is comprised of representatives of the Associations and the Canadian Committee of Students in Education.
The Faculty of Education extends congratulations to Ben on this recognition of his outstanding research presentation.
