Here is your course schedule. Use your PROF 190 course pack to locate weekly readings, some on paper, some online.Class meeting times and assignments culminating in the Exit Conference are standard for all sections.

Teacher Candidates who are unable to attend class are expected to complete an alternate learning activity based on the reading for that session.

Fall 2012

• Friday September 7, 1.5 hours: Introducing PROF 190: course outline,assignments, who we are and where we are going, schedule, course pack, website; Professional Learning Communities. Readings: LNS #3, NTIP sheet; Learning for All, Ch 5, Learning for all through professional learning (online resource).
• Friday September 14, 1.5 hrs. Observing and Reflecting in Classrooms. Readings: Borich, Jablon; Learning for All, Ch 4, Planning assessment and instruction (online resource). Hartman, Reflecting on practice.
• Friday September 21, 1.5 hrs. Classroom management. Readings: Wolk, Learning for Allch 9, Deir online "Finding Ms McArthur".  Summer Reading assignment is due.
• Friday September 28, 1.5 hrs. Preparing for our Schools.
• Monday October 9 –Oct 26— Practicum: 3 weeks
• In-School Weekly Meetings begin: see questions prepared for each week's meeting; a candidate from each school meeting group will email meeting reports to their Faculty Liaisons.
• Friday November 2, 1.5 hours. Learning Environments as part of Practicum debrief. Learning from experience, sharing good ideas, identifying areas of concern; Reading: Schwartz.
• Friday November 9, Whole-group Presentation. No individual class meetings. Location: B101. 2pm. Topics: Assignments for PROF 190: Professional Learning Plan, Statement of Beliefs, Action Research. Information will be provided about these assignments. Note: Statement of Beliefs Draft 1 is due electronically to instructors by Wed November 28; Professional Learning Plan is due electronically to instructor by Wed Nov 28.
• Friday November 16, 1.5 hours. Assessment for Learning; Readings: McTighe; Learning for All, Ch 3.
• Friday November 23. Whole-group presentation: Interview Workshop, presented by Education Career Services, featuring principals, hiring teams.
• Friday November 30. Instruction. Readings: Learning for All, Ch 2; and Ch 4, revisited.
• Monday December 3–December 21— Practicum: 3 weeks
• In-School Weekly Meetings continue, with school groups using questions provided and candidates reporting to faculty liaisons

January 2013

• Friday January 11, 1.5. Classroom Community. Readings: Erwin online; Larrivee, Building a democratic learning community. 
• Friday January 18, 1.5 hours. Whole-group presentation. Resume, Reflective Practice.Location: B101. Time: 1:30pm.  No individual class meetings. Readings: York-Barr, Individual reflection; MacLatchy reflection; ETFO, The heart and art of teaching and learning, Ch 8 online resource. Reflective practice statements are due to instructors by Monday Jan 21. Information about this activity is in PROF 190 course pack, Session 10.
• Friday, January 25. Teachers Overseas Recruiting Fair, presented by Education Career Services. No class meetings for PROF 190.
• Friday February 1, 1.5 hours. Instruction; Readings: Marzano; ETFO The heart and art of teaching and learning, Ch 6 online resource.

• Friday, February 8, 1.5 hours. Using case studies. Readings: Elliott A., Success for all; Protecting our students.
  
• February 11– March 8: Practicum: 4 weeks;in-school weekly meetings continue, with school groups using questions provided and candidates reporting to faculty liaisons
• March 11–March 29: Alternate Practicum: 3 weeks
• Friday April 5, !.5 hours. Sharing Learning and Preparing for Exit Conferences, Discussion and feedback re Action Research; Debrief final practicum, link with program, focus on Exit Conference details.
• Friday April 19. Whole-group Presentation. Looking ahead: occasional teaching, ABQs. No individual class meetings for PROF 190.
• Friday April 26— Exit Conferences. Exit Conferences are a program requirement: come and celebrate your learning and that of your peers on Friday April 26. Schedule to be announced.
