PROF 190/191

Theory and Professional Practice

This course focusses on connecting practicum experiences with on-campus learning, and introduces the process of constructing and documenting professional knowledge. The course emphasizes understanding and improving learning, teaching, and associated classroom practices. PROF 190 is for Primary/Junior candidates. PROF 191 is for Intermediate/Senior candidates.

The success of the B.Ed./Dip.Ed. program and of this course depends on close connections between what happens at the Associate School and what happens at Queen's. The professional learning of each candidate is supported by Education faculty and school professionals. At the school, the School Liaison orients and supports teacher candidates and arranges for Associate Teachers to provide guidance and teaching opportunities for Teacher Candidates. The Faculty Liaisons teach individual sections of PROF 190/191, visit the candidates in schools, and work with School Liaisons and Associate Teachers to support an effective professional learning experience.
